On the tea farm

A mother and daughter show us their small tea farm, here the tea plants are Shui Xian aka Narcissus or Water Fairy Tea.

This photo appears very grainy to me, but it certainly wasn't when I uploaded it. Its really bothering me quite a bit. How many of you have upgraded to A+ account? Does the graininess in a normal account bother you?

Hrmm comparing both the shots, I noticed theres a difference in colour as well. Or am I getting old?

I certainly don't mind the normal account. Never upgraded to A+ account. Too many things to pay for :P Anyway, this is a nice shot.

@Nicholas: Hi Nicholas, I agree with you about the colour too. The highlights here are really blown out. In some images the difference is barely noticeable, but other times I wont publish some of my pics here as they appear too grainy, which is a shame, or maybe I should stop being so fussy!

I love this shot kylie...great to see how proud they are of their industry. I do see what you mean about the quality. I don't know about Flickr and if it costs or how it is different (though I see what you maen about this shot Kylie). I think I can understand why A3 do things the way they do, and A+ gives a few bonuses and I think its right if people are paying. I'm just happy to show my stuff and if it doesn't look as great as I would like then I hope people will see beyond that and see the quality of the subject matter or image in its raw state. though I have thought of A+ membership its not for me at the moment but good on all of you for joining cos it can't be easy to keep a web site going for nothing! I do understand the frustration though:-)

@Linerberry: Oh i didnt mean to compare A-3 to Flickr but rather I meant to compare the 2 images - I wanted people to see the photo as I see it, not as it has appeared today after the upload. I too understand why A-3 do it they way they do and completely agree about covering the costs of running the website somehow. The biggest thing I like about A-3 is the lack of advertising, it was one of the major reasons I joined up. But as you said it can be frustrating sometimes. Mostly it doesnt bother me, but for this image is really did. Thats why I wondered how many people have upgraded and what they think of it.

To me, the photo also seems darker. But not knowing that, it's very well done.

I really like this shot a lot, it's so random and candid. I had a look at the flickr image and the one here, and I think the one here at am3 seems a tad darker, but then it's difficult as they are 2 different coloured backgrounds. Honestly though, I don't see any more grain here than at the one at flickr. I hope this helps and does make it all the more confusing :)

Nice documentary shot. I guess the graininess happens on some photos after you upload, wonder how it is for A+ members.

That's amazing, those people plant tea as my parents plant tomatos, and salads in their garden... ;-)

I realized that Aminus3 scaled photos back to width 800 pixels if they exceed that and that caused some problems for me, but I now resize the photos myself now and that works much better for me.

Hi Kylie. I compared both the photos and I really can't see any difference except for the flickr one being lighter generally.

Hi Kylie have had a look at both images and the Am3 one is very slightly more grainy but you only notice this because you compare them. If you had said nothing I bet noone would have noticed the difference. Its a great shot Kylie and your photos are always great 'when somehting ain't broken don't fix it' isn't that how the saying goes
