Sunrise over GothamPosted by kylie (Shanghai, China) on 19 September 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. What a night! We have a mosquito in our bedroom. Its a cunning little #@%$*^ and so far it has managed to avoid all attempts to remove it. We've had to endure its excited high pitched buzzing noises as it whizzes past us (usually just after we have drifted off to sleep again) en route to its delicious meal (i.e any fleshy bit of us that we are foolish enough to leave outside of the covers). The result is that Mister and I had to endure the awful whining noise and the itchy bites as we lay sweltering under the covers (its still mid 20's at night here so very warm) and we had very little sleep. We had just drifted off to sleep again (after the latest assault and subsequent mosquito search) at 5am when Misters alarm went off. He had a flight to catch at 7 for Southern China. Sleep was an impossibility for me after that, so I sat in the window and watched the sunrise on a very grey, bleak and rainy Shanghai day. (One day I will show you what is looks like on a clear day, its really stunning). We live on the 25th floor, so you may wonder how a mosquito could possibly fly into an apartment window on the 25th floor. Shanghai mosquitoes are a truly sophisticated breed. They come up with you in the elevator, and rush in through your door at the same time you do. I'm not making that up. How is that for evolution?
