Local Kiddies

I shot this back in June when I was in China's Shanxi province. The town is called Pingyao, and it is famous for its historic architecture and its role as the first banking capital of China, capturing much of the Silk Road trade during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Originally built in the West Zhou Dynasty, it boasts a long history of over 2,700 years. These days its a very poor town, though increasing tourism is helping to improve the living conditions for the over 40,000 low-income residents who live within these ancient walls.
Please forgive the graininess in this image - I shot it as I raced through Pingyao's narrow lanes on the back of a motorcycle taxi!
